Board Commence ‘Operation Show Your PSP Receipt’ January

The Delta State Waste Management Board is to embark on ‘Operation Show Your PSP Receipt’ beginning from Monday, January 6, 2020.

The Chairman of the Board, Mr Emmanuel Chinye, disclosed this yesterday in his office in Asaba while speaking to newsmen.

He said that the planned operation was part of measures to check indiscriminate dumping of refuse in major towns and cities of the state, saying anyone who failed to present a current payment receipt for refuse collection would be deemed to be one of those dumping refuse on the streets and appropriately sanctioned.

Mr Chinye said that the Board would no longer condone environmental recklessness, particularly as it concerned its core mandate, stressing that every resident of the state must register with the private sector participants (PSP) to ensure a seamless waste management.

The board chairman pointed out that dump sites were operational in six zones in the state, namely Asaba, Warri, Uvwie, Sapele, Ughelli and Agbor, adding that more would be set up in other parts of the state in the New Year.

He called on all residents of the state to cultivate the habit of keeping their environment clean at all times warning that there would be no sacred cow in the enforcement drive
