… I See A Great Year Ahead Of Us – Rev. Fr. Onyebadi
The Ifeanyi Farms Ltd Issele-Uku, a renowned pineapple and corn farms has closed shop for the year while looking into the new year with greater prospects.
Speaking to the workers who had gathered at the proprietor’s country home in Issele-Uku to close the year, the CEO, Very Rev. Fr. Jude Ifeanyi Onyebadi gave the workers a run down of estimated budget for 2019 and how they surpassed their expectations.
The Priest Farmer explained that N52 million was budgeted for capital expenditure (buying of land for expansion) while N42.4 million was budgeted for recurrent expenditure (paying of salaries and other miscellaneous), adding that the Farm did very well this year by meeting up with its targets based on a good output from pineapple and corn.
He said that 100 buses of corn were estimated to be harvested but eventually 91 was harvested which gave more than the income expected.
Father Jude commended the Sales Manager, Mr Mustapha for keeping a good record of sales from pineapple, maintaining that the budgeted income of N48 million from pineapple was still very possible with remaining sales before the end of the year.
He said that a loan of N40 million to service expenses in the course of the year had been subsumed into the gains of the year and that there was no fear of paying any debt.
The meticulous farm administrator however, charged the workers to brace up for the year 2020 by working hard, stating that “I see a great year ahead of us”.
Father Onyebadi therefore, proposed N16 million from corn alone in 2020 as against the N8.2 million realised in 2019.
He said that prospects for pineapple in 2020 were still very high as the farm would continue to expand to create more space to plant pineapple in order to meet up with the challenge of demands and supply.
He nonetheless, warned the workers to avoid killing crops while in a bid to deliver their portions of work, stating that such would not be tolerated in 2020.
As a motivator, the philanthropist did not only provide rice and money for the workers to celebrate the Christmas, he promised them a salary increase in 2020 with a view to getting them to work harder to meet up with the Farms’ supply chain for 2020.
Meanwhile, in their usual convivial family mood, the workers sang, danced and prayed for the priest farmer who had become a source of blessing and comfort for them. They eulogized the man they call Father for truly being their father irrespective of the fact that they work for him.
In the end, there was merrymaking as Rev. Fr. Jude Onyebadi had cooked for the workers to enjoy themselves. Indeed they were all happy and filled with high hopes as they prepare to impress their employer in the year 2020 by putting in enormous efforts that will also earn them a commensurate value in salaries.
