NUJ Announces One Week Mourning For Murdered Reporter

The Adamawa Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists ( NUJ) has announced one-week mourning for late Maxwell Nashon, a journalist who was massacred on Wednesday in the state.

This is contained in a statement issued on Friday by the state NUJ Chairman, Mr. Ishaku Donald, in Yola.

The NUJ, Adamawa Council declared one-week interment and prayers for the serenity of the soul of their member, late Maxwell Nashon.

“His killing was not only inhumane and barbaric but unpardonable injury meted on the union.

“While the union condoles with the family of the deceased, management and staff of the FRCN Fombina FM Yola, it calls on the State Government and security agencies to step up measures to prevent the current insecurity challenge,” Donald said.

He said the council would begin again to remember Nashon for his commitment and sacrifice to duty at all times .

Nashon was a reporter with Fombina FM, Yola, before he was massacred.
