STOP KILLING YOUNG GIRLS IN PORT HARCOURT–NHRC CRIES OUT

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has condemned the recent killings of young girls in hotels in Port Harcourt, Rivers State and other parts of the country.

Executive Secretary of the Commission, Tony Ojukwu, on Wednesday, said the recent complaints of several attacks on women in hotels are worrisome.

He lamented that the extermination of right to life is the mother of all human rights violations, which cannot be tolerated by any decent society.

Mr. Tony also described as unfortunate the idea of some people taking laws into their hands by targeting women they term as prostitutes and killing them at will.

He also charged the perpetrators of the evil act to desist from such inhumane act.

He therefore called on the Rivers State Police Command to intensify efforts to stem the tide, stressing that those involved should be apprehended and made to face the law.

Recall that yesterday, some young ladies in over 74 groups, took to the streets of Port Harcourt and other strategic places, protesting over the serial killing of young ladies in hotels.
